Embarking on staged photography, I seized control over subjects, light, and settings. Freezing keepsakes overnight, I captured memories, questioning the disconnect between viewers and photographers, aiming to infuse emotion into every frame.
In my quest to capture better photographs and hone my skills as a photographer, I found Alison’s Photo Composition course, a valuable resource taught by the esteemed landscape photographer Mark Paulda. The course delved into the intricacies of visual composition, equipping me with the knowledge and techniques necessary to capture more captivating and visually pleasing images.
As a longtime lover of upcycling, I’m always on the lookout for ways to breathe new life into old clothes. So when I decided to tackle my fourth subject in my degree – sewing – I knew I wanted to take on a project that would allow me to flex my upcycling muscles.
Studying a new course can be an exciting and challenging experience. For my third subject of my “Degree in me”, I decided to take a course on animating collages with After Effects through Domestika. Although I enjoyed the course, there were some challenges that I encountered along the way.
Since falling in love with my gel plate, I’ve discovered its incredible versatility as a tool for creating the wildest and most unexpected prints, transfers and artwork. Over the past six weeks, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed exploring this medium as part of my second subject in my degree in me.

The first 6 weeks of my “degree in me” are over now and it’s time for my final project in block printing! I try to bring together all I learned and produce something beautiful.
Now that I transferred the images to the blocks, it’s time to ink them to prepare for the printing fun!
