My very first colour walk, where I chose the colour Yellow, I did on my own and in lockdown. After telling my friend about it, she was really excited about the idea. So we decided to do one together.
After weighing all our options, we settled on the colour Orange, as we both like this energetic colour. We gave each other 1 month to do the challenge to find 10 “orange moments” and after that, we would then post these images in a post on Instagram. So, it wasn’t as much as just one walk, but more daily inspiration walks.
Once I started looking out for orange things, I just couldn’t stop anymore! Suddenly the strangest things became visible and were worth taking a picture of. It was really fun and I even got a bit hooked! From now on, every day I saw at least one orange thing around me. And the same was the case for my friend.
Then D-day came and with it a big pile of orange pictures! Yes, way more than 10! So now I had to turn on my decision-making gene (which isn’t one of my strengths!). I didn’t want to just post the most beautiful ones, but more tried to find the most interesting and exciting pictures. Also, I cared about different angles, objects and situations.
After making my decision and posting my 10 pictures I waited for my friend’s post. And then we chose our favourites from each other’s posts. I really liked her pictures and, same as mine, they were also very diverse and interesting.
In a nutshell, this experiment opened our eyes literally and gave us a very nice reason to get outside to collect our orange moments.
I hope this inspired you to go on your own colour walk!
